Laurey’s working life has fostered her passion in the field of the great outdoors. This is conveyed through her current position at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area as a General Manager. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, Laurey ventured to Mammoth some 36 years ago for a “few months break from the city” until the Sierra drew her in to make Mammoth Lakes her permanent home. Married to Jeff for 26 years, the Carlsons have enjoyed the Eastern Sierra as a dynamic pair. Their son Kirk, born and raised in Mammoth Lakes, is their pride and joy.
Laurey is experienced as a Professional Ski Instructor, alpine race coach, FIS licensed official, and is a 23-year Mammoth Mountain Professional Ski Patrol veteran and a 40-year Emergency Medical Technician. She loves doing volunteer work and lives to be outdoors with interests in many fields including alpine (including racing), Nordic and telemark skiing, ice-skating, windsurfing, surfing, sailing, hiking, backpacking, road and mountain biking, literature, crafts and photography.
