Labor and Delivery Services Community Update
Following discussion by the Mammoth Hospital Board of Directors and Senior Management, Mammoth Hospital will continue to work to resume Labor and Delivery services. Central to Mammoth Hospital’s ability to safely resume services is recruiting nurses sufficient to provide the service on a 24/7 basis, and implementation of practices for low volume programs recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Until sufficient staff are on board and L&D services can resume, Mammoth Hospital’s Women’s clinic obstetric providers will continue to coordinate care with their counterparts at Northern Inyo Healthcare District to assure safe handoffs for Mammoth Hospital’s Women’s Clinic patients who will deliver at NIHD. The timeline to resume Labor and Delivery services is dependent on having adequate staff. As such, no date has yet been set for resuming Labor and Delivery services.
Mammoth Hospital’s obstetric providers, management, and board of directors are grateful to NIHD for its provision of care to the area’s delivering mothers and their babies during this time.
