Healthcare District Board Openings

With the election of Southern Mono Healthcare District Board Chairwoman Lynda Salcido to Mammoth’s Town Council, a vacancy has been declared on the SMHD Board of Directors.

If you are interested in applying for the vacancy, please contact the District Secretary at the District Offices at 760.924.4114 or P.O. Box 660, Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546, to request an application.

All applications must be returned to the District Office by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018. Board interviews of applicants will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the scheduled SMHD Board Meeting.

The appointment to fill the Board vacancy will be made at the August 16, 2018 SMHD Board meeting. The Board member appointed on August 16 must, however, run for his or her seat in the November 6, 2018 general election (in which there are two seats up). Directors sit on the SMHD Board for a term of four years. New Board members’ terms will begin on December 20, 2018.

With a few exceptions, Board meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from 8 a.m. until approximately noon. Any person who is a registered voter within the hospital district, and is not disqualified by any California law, is eligible to be a candidate for a Hospital Board office.

The filing period for a declaration of candidacy begins on July 10 and ends on August 14 of this year. That form can be picked up and filed with the Elections Department between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), at the Mono County Registrar’s office at 74 N. School Street, Annex I, in Bridgeport.
