Gary Myers, Chief Executive Officer


Gary Myers, Mammoth Hospital’s CEO, has over 35 years of experience in health care and has been a resident of the Mammoth Lakes community since 1981. Gary received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Central Connecticut State University and a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Stanford University.  He and his wife Karilyn owned and operated Myers and Associates Physical Therapy for over 20 years.  Gary served on the Southern Mono Healthcare District Board of Directors from 1992-1994 and in 1995 became the Chief Executive Officer, a position he held for 13 years.  During that time he was an active member of the California Hospital Association’s Rural Hospital Center and served two terms as the Chair.  Following a long period of sustained growth and development of hospital services and facilities, Gary resigned his post to return to patient care as a physical therapist.   In 2011, he earned certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  In 2013 he attained board certification as an Orthopedic Physical Therapist (OCS) by the American Physical Therapy Association Board of Specialists.

In addition to his professional experience, Gary has been a long time board member and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Mammoth Lakes Foundation supporting the development of Cerro Coso Community College.  He is also the Chair of the hospital foundation, the Healthcare Trust of Mammoth Lakes, and an elder at Grace Community Church.  He is an avid skier and hiker and enjoys playing guitar.  He and Karilyn have two grown daughters, Jackie and Jennifer.
